Job Summary
Lead compliance efforts for Local, State, and Federal Environmental, Health & Safety regulations by acting as a liaison with regulatory agencies and submitting required reports. Conduct site risk assessments, job hazard analyses, industrial hygiene surveys, and compliance audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions for manufacturing equipment and processes. Facilitate safety representative meetings across all shifts to communicate initiatives, review trends, and promote employee engagement. Develop and maintain site-specific EHS programs, policies, procedures, and training materials while ensuring safe handling of hazardous chemicals and waste materials. Respond to emergencies such as injuries, workplace violence incidents, and spills, performing post-incident investigations to determine root causes and implement preventive actions. Maintain OSHA logs, inspection records, and training documentation through the EHS Data Management System and manage Workers' Compensation claims administration. Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Facilities teams to support safe equipment installations and continuous improvement projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or a combination of education and relevant work experience
- Minimum five years of experience working in the Environmental Health and Safety field, preferably in Manufacturing
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and related state and federal laws
- Experience in interacting with regulatory agencies
- Experience working with state and federal regulations relating to Air Pollution Control District (APCD), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal-OSHA)
- Knowledge and experience working with the principles of accident prevention and safety
- Experience in ergonomics and performing ergonomic evaluations
- Ability to lead a team, influence without authority and display effective project management skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent attention to detail and prioritization skills
- Ability to make mathematical calculations and operate various office equipment
- Ability to self-initiate activities and work within timelines
- Ability to work with minimal direction
- Knowledge of principles and techniques of employee training
- Ability to make sound judgments and respond to emergency situations in a calm manner
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with members across the organization
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support Environmental Health and Safety needs at additional office locations
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- HAZMAT AND HAZWOPER certifications
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First-Aid certifications
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification
- Experience with MSDSOnline, VelocityEHS and Aha
- Forklift driving experience
- Ability to speak and write in Spanish
