Job Summary
Senior Environmental Engineer needed to lead environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives across ND Paper operations. Primary responsibilities include ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations; developing and maintaining environmental management systems; leading projects on waste management, air and water quality improvements, and pollution control; guiding regulatory reporting, permits, and licenses; providing technical guidance to operations; delivering training on environmental awareness and compliance; and serving as a liaison with regulatory agencies and stakeholders. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Environmental/Chemical Engineering or related field, 5+ years of environmental engineering experience with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity, and strong knowledge of EPA/OSHA standards. Preference for experience in paper manufacturing or industrial environments; strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills; ability to lead cross-site initiatives and drive sustainability, efficiency, and environmental performance across multiple facilities including Rumford ME, Biron WI, Sturtevant WI, Langhorne PA, and Fairmont WV.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of environmental engineering experience
- 3+ years in a senior or leadership role
- Experience in paper manufacturing or industrial environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, OSHA)
- Experience with environmental management systems and related software
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive environmental and sustainability initiatives
