Job Summary
Senior Environmental Technical Specialist sought to provide technical leadership on contaminated sites, remediation, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance projects across Western Canada. Responsibilities include reviewing historical reports and site-specific data, developing risk receptor analyses and Conceptual Site Models, identifying data gaps, progressing sites toward regulatory closure, developing and implementing risk management strategies, preparing Phase 2 ESA and remediation reports, supporting permitting and compliance programs, mentoring environmental professionals, collaborating with project teams, and contributing to business growth through technical excellence. The role requires mentoring, client interaction, development of site-specific remediation guidelines, participation in QC processes, and staying current with environmental legislation and regulations. A P.Eng. or P.Geol. designation and 10+ years of experience in soil/groundwater projects are expected, along with strong leadership, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental services or equivalent
- Professional Designation of P.Eng. or P.Geol. and a member of APEGA
- Minimum of 10 years of experience working on soil and groundwater assessment projects
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills
- Excellent technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong understanding of Tier 1 guidelines, Tier 2 guideline modification, risk assessment and management, and Contaminated Sites Policy Framework
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and uncertainty evaluation in risk assessment
- Familiarity with applicable municipal, provincial and federal bylaws, regulations, and Acts
