Job Summary
Enter customs data and prepare entries with high accuracy, filing Importer Security Filings and managing EDI trade system files. Conduct pre-clearance reviews of import documentation, manage end-to-end documentation for USMCA cross-border shipments, and classify goods under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. Track cargo from booking through delivery, coordinate with trucking companies and freight forwarders, and resolve shipping delays. Build relationships with customers, respond to inquiries, review financial components, and invoice accurately. Maintain strict compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and trade standards across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of customs brokerage experience
- Data entry experience with strong attention to detail
- Background in transportation or logistics
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and import compliance
- USMCA experience
- HTS classification experience across all chapters of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Clear, effective communicator, both verbal and written
- Strong problem-solver and decision-maker within a team setting
- Highly organized, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Accurate, detail-oriented, and collaborative
- Performs all basic math operations across units of measure, including fractions and decimals
- Able to read and interpret documents, spreadsheets, emails, and instructions
- Write routine correspondence clearly
- Full time schedule of minimum 8 hours per day with flexibility to complete all required job duties and responsibilities
- Climate-controlled office with a typically moderate noise level
- Regular physical activity: walking, sitting, handling materials, keyboarding, and reaching
- Visual demands include close, distance, and peripheral vision, with the ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Customs Specialist Certification is a plus
- Familiarity with transportation management (TM) systems is a plus
