Senior Engineering Manager - Shipping Services (m/f/n)

Job Summary
Manage delivery across multiple engineering teams within the Shipping Services domain, defining standards for shipment lifecycle operations, carrier integrations, and label routing. Own domain-level SDLC governance, architecture, and infrastructure strategy while leading the AI adoption roadmap and measuring ROI. Report to C-level stakeholders on progress, risks, and business impact, translating engineering outcomes into strategic recommendations. Coach Engineering Managers, build talent pipelines, and foster an inclusive culture through systematic feedback mechanisms. Shape recruitment standards and cross-domain initiatives to drive innovation and velocity.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of overall experience in Software Development / Engineering Leadership
- Proven experience managing managers (manager-of-managers model) - must have led at least 2 or more teams through other Engineering Managers, not just individual contributors
- Hands-on background as a software engineer earlier in your career
- Hands-on technical background in Java and Spring Boot
- Solid exposure to backend databases
- Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture patterns (microservices, event-driven, API-first)
- Experience with OKR/KPI frameworks and domain-level metrics
- Demonstrated impact of AI adoption on engineering velocity and product quality
- Proficiency in Agile, SAFe, or equivalent scaled delivery frameworks
- Advanced proficiency in both Polish and English (written and spoken)
- Ability to communicate technical strategy to C-level and board-level stakeholders
- Expertise in people development - career paths, performance management, and succession planning
- Proven track record of building high-performing, inclusive engineering cultures

Desired Qualifications
- Google Cloud strongly preferred
- AWS or Azure exposure is also valued
- Background in e-commerce or logistics - not required, but it will help you ramp up on the domain faster
- Experience at a product-based company
- Experience with P&L ownership and budget management
- Knowledge of AI/ML platforms and emerging technology trends
- Experience in board or executive advisory roles
- Experience representing a technology organization externally (partnerships, industry forums); published thought leadership or conference speaking experience
