Senior Engineering Manager - Platform Engineering

Job Summary
Lead architecture and technical direction for core platform domains including authentication, tenant management, notifications, and shared APIs. Translate platform strategy into executable roadmaps while driving design for reusable primitives, schemas, and extension mechanisms. Build and mentor a high-performing team of engineers, establishing ownership and best practices across product teams. Partner with Product, SRE, DevOps, and Security to deliver self-service capabilities that improve developer productivity and adoption. Ensure shared services meet availability, latency, and scalability objectives through embedded observability, capacity planning, and continuous cost optimization. Drive migrations, versioning, and retirement of legacy services while championing operational excellence and architectural sustainability.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience building and operating large-scale distributed platforms or multi-tenant SaaS systems
- Experience leading engineering teams responsible for platform, backend, or infrastructure services
- Strong technical expertise in distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native architectures, and shared platform services
- Experience designing and operating highly available production services
- Experience partnering with multiple engineering teams to deliver shared capabilities
- Strong operational knowledge of observability, incident management, and production readiness
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and grow technical leaders
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience building marketing technology, customer-data, analytics, or large-scale SaaS platforms
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Snowflake, ClickHouse, Iceberg, PostgreSQL, Redis, or similar technologies
- Experience implementing identity, authorization, multi-tenancy, API gateways, or workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal
- Experience with cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices
- Experience driving adoption of shared engineering platforms
