Senior Engineering Manager, Data Platform

Job Summary
Own end-to-end delivery for the Data Platform group, managing roadmap execution, Agile/SAFe processes, and hiring a team of engineers. Guide architecture for scalable data pipelines, streaming infrastructure on AWS, and AI agent development for forensic investigations. Ensure sound storage design across relational, NoSQL, and search systems while driving improvements in reliability, observability, and cost efficiency. Represent the group across a matrixed organization to partner with product teams. This role supports Imperva's Platform Engineering group, which builds the developer experience powering application security products for the world's largest organizations.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years hands-on engineering experience
- 5+ years managing engineering teams
- matrixed org experience
- Backend, data, or platform engineering background
- Cloud-native environment experience
- Java/Spring Boot working knowledge
- Kafka or similar working knowledge
- Kubernetes working knowledge
- AWS working knowledge
- Distributed systems concepts understanding
- Data storage tech familiarity (PostgreSQL/RDS, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, NoSQL)
- AI agent architectures working knowledge
- MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar standards working knowledge
- Strong communication skills
- Sound judgment under pressure

- Orchestration tools experience (Airflow)
- Event-driven architecture experience
