Job Summary
Define the long-term strategic vision and multi-year technical roadmap for the distributed container infrastructure at the edge, ensuring alignment with Fastly's overall business goals. Hire and develop a high-performing team of software engineers, principal-level individual contributors, and SREs, focusing on organizational structure, talent development, and scaling capabilities to meet future demand. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders using a product-owner mindset to define clear roadmaps and priorities, while clearly communicating strategy, progress, and risk profiles to executive leadership and technical stakeholders. Leverage deep technical experience in Go, Rust, or C/C++ to drive strategic improvements and build foundational team processes that foster a culture of technical rigor and operational excellence across the platform domain.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience managing Software Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering teams
- 10+ years of related technical experience with distributed systems, CDN, or cloud infrastructure such as container networking, platform ownership, virtualization technology
- Extensive hands-on experience in software development using Go, Rust, or C/C++
- Demonstrated ability to drive a durable technical roadmap and facilitate effective collaboration in cross-functional teams
- Experience building and automating large scale production infrastructure in on-prem environments within a complex and dynamic networking environment
- Extensive hands on experience working in a Linux environment with a solid understanding of system internals and performance optimization
- Available during core business hours and occasional nights and weekends as necessary to support any on-call coverage
- Location: San Francisco, CA, Denver, CO, or New York, NY (with preference for Hybrid near a local office)
- Willingness to travel as required by the role or requested by the manager
