Job Summary
Senior Engineering Manager to lead our engineering-first FinOps team responsible for forecasting and optimizing Box’s public cloud and SaaS/AI service spend. Own the cloud spend forecast, build scalable tooling and models on GCP/BigQuery with Python/SQL, translate usage and cost signals into actionable insights for executives and engineering partners, and drive optimization initiatives while protecting business outcomes. Coach and develop senior ICs, coordinate cloud-ops partnerships (SRE, Data, Finance), extend cost governance to SaaS and AI services, and oversee on-call incident response. Requires 5+ years of engineering management, strong Python/BigQuery/SQL skills, deep GCP experience, and a proven ability to produce accurate forecasts and actionable recommendations. Box emphasizes hybrid work with a minimum of 3 days per week in the assigned office and a focus on AI-first, data-driven decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of engineering management experience leading mid-to-senior ICs
- Strong technical foundation with hands-on engineering background; fluency in Python, BigQuery and SQL
- Deep experience with Google Cloud Platform or equivalent public cloud platforms
- Proven track record managing and analyzing very large datasets to produce accurate forecasts and recommendations
- Executive-ready communicator who can tailor complex topics for audiences ranging from engineers to VP/C-suite
- Background in FinOps, SRE, data engineering/science, or internal tooling for cloud platforms; experience with large-scale cloud spend required
