Job Summary
Lead the Civil Space Systems Discipline as Chief Engineer, defining standards, ensuring technical integrity, and providing independent oversight for systems engineers working on Artemis, Orion, and Space Launch System platforms. Manage recruiting and hiring for Systems Engineering talent while guiding the improvement of systems design processes during hardware development. Deliver expert systems modeling, design guidance, and support for internal and customer-funded R&D projects from concept through test. Coordinate mission critical products, lead small project teams, and participate in discipline design reviews and technical boards. Provide trusted technical advice to programs and support failure investigations using CORE tools.

- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- Minimum 10 years prior relevant experience
- Advanced Degree in a related field
- Minimum 7 years of experience (if Advanced Degree)
- Proven supervisory skills
- History of being self-motivated
- Ability to set individual as well as team priorities
- Ability to accomplish established goals within a matrixed team environment
- Strong knowledge of and experience with Aerospace/Defense related systems engineering processes
- Experience with the generation of Systems Engineering Management Plans
- Experience with structured requirements analysis & decomposition
- Experience with initial system sizing/modelling
- Experience with the generation, planning, management, and verification of requirements compliances
- Experience with analysis, inspection, demonstration and test
- Ethical behavior in accordance with RTX's Code of Ethics
- Ability to work well both independently and within an integrated product development (IPD) team environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent writing & math skills
- Supervisory responsibility for 10-15 systems individual contributors
- Ability to Prepare, monitor, and be responsible for proper program staffing, process performance metrics and business/operational results
- Ability to Lead small project teams or multiple project teams in the improvement of systems engineering processes
- Ability to Lead and or support failure/mishap investigations to positive conclusion using CORE tools and process enhancement
- Experience performing system development/integration/architecting
- Experience performing thermal/fluid/chemical analyses
- Relevant component hardware experience: heat exchangers, pumps/fans/separators/motors/motor controllers, chemical beds, sensors, valves, accumulators
- Relevant system experience: thermal control systems, air revitalization systems (CO2/H2O/trace contaminant removal), pressure control systems, oxygen generation systems, potable water systems, fuel cell systems, human waste management systems or other equivalent systems
- Requirements management and verification/validation skills
- Drug and alcohol testing per NASA's regulation SUBPART 1835.5
- Onsite work location (US-CT-WINDSOR LOCKS-B1A ~ 1 Hamilton Rd ~ BLDG 1A)
