Job Summary
Lead, coach, and mentor a team of engineers across multiple locations while shaping the technical and product roadmap for business onboarding flows. Collaborate daily with product managers, data analysts, and designers to ensure the team delivers scalable, intuitive solutions that guide businesses through setting up their Wise account. Own the health and productivity of your team, manage hiring and growth, and maintain close alignment with wider technical strategy. Stay deeply engaged with the tech stack, including Java, REST APIs, and microservices, to set high standards for quality. Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement while enabling your team to commit effectively to product goals.
Required Qualifications
- strong, hands-on technical experience in OOP Languages (Java codebase)
- experience with and building distributed, high scalability systems and microservices architectures
- proven experience in leading and mentoring software engineers
- strong product and customer mindset and experience building customer facing products
- great communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- experience working effectively with cross-functional peers like designers, product managers, and analysts
- experience working with and building REST APIs
- experience working with modern technology stacks on technologies such as microservices
- experience working with modern technology stacks on technologies such as distributed systems
- experience working with modern technology stacks on technologies such as CI/CD pipelines
Desired Qualifications
- Experience building great customer onboarding experiences (domain agnostic)
- Experience working on B2B products
- Fluent with modern AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Claude Code) — prompting, context structuring, skills/automations, and effective AI delegation— with the ability to scale this practices across the team while maintaining a high level of quality
