Job Summary
Build and maintain optimised, highly available database platforms while establishing consistent standards for fault tolerance. Continuously improve CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments and enable self-service for development teams. Troubleshoot data issues, provide consultancy on data growth and maintenance, and execute proof-of-concept enhancements. Ensure systems remain secure and compliant with SOX and PCI standards, providing UK business hours support and fulfilling out-of-hours on-call rota duties. This hybrid role requires two days in-person at a TU office location.
Required Qualifications
- At least five years experience working as a SQL Server DBA
- Experience with MS SQL Server (2014-current)
- Experience of supporting PostGreSQL in an enterprise environment
- Experience with database migrations and upgrades
- Advanced use of T-SQL (stored procedures, SQL Agent Jobs, Deployment automation)
- Experience of High Availability / Disaster Recovery technologies (Mirroring, Always On Availability Groups)
- Experience of Replication (especially transactional with centralised distribution)
- Proven experience of working with sensitive data in a secure manner
- Solid understanding of DevOps, Agile, Scrum, Kanban processes and methodologies
- Familiarity with use of source control, especially around database projects (including branching, workflow, peer reviews etc.)
- Good technical understanding of TFS/Azure DevOps Server and Octopus Deploy
- Good level of PowerShell scripting and automation
- Excellent troubleshooting/fault resolution skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Willingness to learn and embrace industry developments and practices from both a Development and Operations background
- This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week
