Job Summary
Senior Engineer in Transmission System Planning responsible for developing and maintaining system models for transmission studies, conducting adequacy assessments, and analyzing power flow, transient stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transients. The role includes identifying technical issues, developing solutions, and applying planning standards. Collaboration with utilities and participation in regional transmission expansion studies are essential, along with training junior staff in technical analyses.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related quantitative field
- At least five years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or related occupation
- Experience with power system transmission analysis tools: TARA, ASPEN, and PSSE or PSCAD
- Experience applying electrical theory for planning electrical power supply systems
- Experience working with federal, regional, and local planning standards
- OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related quantitative field and at least three years of experience
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with power system transmission analysis tools: TARA, ASPEN, PSSE or PSCAD
- Proficiency in Python
- Strong understanding of electrical theory for planning electrical power supply systems
- Knowledge of federal, regional, and local planning standards
Additional Requirements
- Up to 10% travel required between CT, MA, and NH
- Emergency Restoration assignment may be required
