Job Summary
Senior Engineer Supervisor, Tailings Engineering at Highland Valley Copper (Teck) in Logan Lake, BC. Responsibilities include managing a team to ensure safe dam performance of on-site tailings facilities, advancing GISTM implementation, overseeing technical studies, designs and mitigations, coordinating with the Engineer of Record, Dam Construction, Operations, and external stakeholders, and driving a safety-first culture. Lead field investigations and instrumentation programs, maintain regulatory and external tailings standards conformance, manage external consultants, develop annual and multi-year plans and budgets, provide geotechnical support to construction, and communicate practical risk recommendations to mine management. Requires strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills, and experience in dam safety, geotechnical engineering, tailings governance, and project management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Civil, Geological/Geotechnical, Mining Engineering or equivalent
- Registered, or eligible to register, with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) as a P. Eng
- Previous geotechnical engineering and tailings management experience, minimum 8yrs
- Experience reading and understanding technical engineering principles, documents and drawings
- Understanding of planning and scheduling principles and procedures
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Maximo, AutoCAD, Muk3D and other geotechnical software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
