Senior Engineer, Special Projects – Transmission Line Design

Job Summary
Support Project Managers with atypical transmission line design projects involving new technologies, significant stakeholder involvement, or challenging environmental factors. Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution, while identifying and mitigating technical, environmental, or regulatory risks. Track timelines and budgets to ensure completion within agreed constraints, and provide advanced engineering support for critical, high-visibility assignments. Evaluate, select, and implement new design tools and methodologies to enhance team capabilities. Communicate project progress and solutions to stakeholders, acting as a subject matter expert in court proceedings and public information meetings. Collect and analyze performance data to refine future designs.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil), Engineering Technology, or relevant technical degree
- Significant experience in transmission line design
- A Professional Engineering license
- Experience working in or in support of transmission line design
- Thorough knowledge of transmission line design practices including the use of PLS CADD
- Experience in managing and scheduling large complex engineering projects
- A working knowledge of various computer systems (LDS, TLDS, STOMP, TEAMS, etc.) and software (Word, Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, Enterprise Foundations and other accounting systems, Power Plant, Maximo, etc.)
- A working knowledge of the gated process
- Experience managing successful relationships and partnerships across business units
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills, as well as planning and problem-solving skills
- Effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts
- Flexible to changing business demands and priorities
- Relocation assistance may be available (upon Manager approval)
Desired Qualifications
- A Professional Engineering license is preferred
- Experience in managing and scheduling large complex engineering projects is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of transmission line materials, construction, maintenance, safety practices and operating procedures is highly desired
