Senior Engineer - Overhead Lines (OHL)

Job Summary
Lead and engage clients to deliver technically challenging overhead line design projects, focusing on complex multi-discipline work up to 400kV. Provide project technical support for the UK National Grid's Great Grid Partnership, including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis, sag-tension calculations, and clearance reports. Originate and check engineering deliverables such as designs, proposals, and drawing packages while performing internal quality checks and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Support feasibility studies, statutory planning, and public consultation events to identify preferred technical solutions for clients.
Required Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognized electrical engineering institution (e.g., IET)
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline (electrical/power engineering)
- Experience delivering projects for transmission system operators (e.g., National Grid, SSE, SPT)
- Project experience in overhead line engineering up to 400 kV
- Proven client relationship management and business development skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
