Job Summary
Senior Engineer, Mechanical Engineering at SaskPower (Regina, Saskatchewan) responsible for researching, developing and implementing mechanical designs and technical studies for power generation facilities; lead and manage projects including preparation of plans, estimates, schedules, and risk registers; provide contract and technical oversight, mentor junior engineers, and ensure alignment with safety, reliability, and organizational goals. Key duties include providing design and specification for mechanical equipment, analyzing equipment performance data, evaluating alternative solutions for business cases, and coordinating with engineers, technologists, consultants, and external agencies. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Systems Engineering, P.Eng., and 10+ years of relevant experience, with strong project/contract management, knowledge of codes and standards, and a proven leadership track in a multi-discipline environment. Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required under SaskPower’s Fit for Duty Policy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree specializing in Mechanical or Industrial Systems Engineering
- Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.)
- A minimum of ten (10) years post P.Eng. relevant experience in mechanical design, equipment specification, construction, operation, and commissioning of power generation or industrial facilities.
- Experience with the management and coordination of technical aspects of contracts and/or technical coordination of highly complex projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant design codes, standards, industry best practices, new trends and developments related to mechanical equipment and systems.
- Experience with project and contract management related to cost estimates, schedule development, risk management, request for proposal development/evaluation and contract negotiation.
- Demonstrated ability to provide recommendations and influence decision making.
- Demonstration of strong relationships with working groups, committees and technical leaders across the organization and external partners.
- Ability to provide competent leadership, including, coaching and development of technical staff including engineers, engineers-in-training and other resources as required.
- Deep and/or broad experience providing guidance and expertise on complex technical issues.
- Results oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Ability to work and manage in a multi-discipline engineering environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, project management and decision-making skills.
