Job Summary
Conduct power flow analysis and market evaluations for generation and transmission development projects across PJM, NYISO, and ISONE. Review utility interconnection studies and transmission expansion plans to identify new project opportunities and assess grid impacts. Develop conceptual designs for interconnection facilities, substations, and transmission lines while coordinating with consultants for system modeling and reliability studies. Interpret market rules for interconnection studies and assist asset managers in bidding and risk management strategies. Perform technical diligence for M&A projects and complex transmission delivery assessments for RFPs. Establish relationships with technical experts among stakeholders, utilities, and RTOs/ISOs.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems
- 3+ years of experience in transmission system planning, compliance and operations including complex power flow, short circuit, and stability studies
- Knowledge of FERC, NERC standards related to transmission and interconnections, including Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT)
- ISO/RTO or Utility interconnection related experience
- Experience working on regional complex power system studies and system planning assessments
- Experience in the use of power flow software such as PSS/E, GE PSLF TARA, PowerWorld or similar software package
- Proficiency in spreadsheet modeling using Microsoft Excel
- Experience in using VBA for automating processes, tasks or interpreting data
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
