Job Summary
Design balance of plant packages from development to IFC for onshore wind, solar, and storage projects. Oversee electrical systems design through pre-construction, construction, and turnover to operations. Manage 3rd party engineering consultants and coordinate project engineering topics with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts. Ensure grid code compliance, interconnection requirements, and NERC Compliance documents and studies. Specify and evaluate major balance of plant electrical equipment while incorporating health, safety, and environmental protection into designs. Support the development of electrical engineering standards and processes. This office-based role includes some travel to RWE Americas offices and field locations.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college engineering program
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience (post-undergraduate) in electrical engineering
- Specific areas of experience and competency include transmission design, substation design, collection and distribution design, major equipment specification, power system studies, and system protection and control
- Experience in renewable generation (wind turbine, solar PV, and BESS storage) project design
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
- Strong leadership, communication, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Ability to multitask while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
- Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
- Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
