SENIOR ENGINEER I - TRANSMISSION

Job Summary

Coordinate and support activities in project planning, engineering, construction planning, execution, and closeout for transmission line systems. Provide technical directions to lower-level engineers and contractors while leading multidisciplinary teams to manage detailed engineering and construction activities. Analyze and recommend solutions for routine and complex operational, maintenance, and business issues, including compliance with NERC Standards. Prepare engineering progress reports, calculations, studies, standards, and specifications to support core design and project activities. Interpret contract requirements and advise peers on technical investigations and corrective actions. Perform NERC Compliance Program roles as designated, maintaining evidence in audit-ready form.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum
  • Minimum six (6) years of related and progressively responsible in the electric power or related industry
  • Direct experience in the areas of engineering and design, modeling, loading and stress analysis, construction, and/or project management at the 100kV voltage level and above
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the development of technical specifications, standards, and material assessments and evaluations
  • Analysis of challenging transmission engineering issues
  • Full competency in all conventional aspects of transmission line design, routing, structural loading, and line clearances
  • Knowledge of transmission line design, construction practices, and common structures and components maintenance techniques
  • PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, TOWER, and AutoCAD
  • Skills in developing 3D Models
  • Overhead and underground utility industry practices, standards, legislation, and current trends
  • Applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NERC, OSHA, ASCE, etc.)
  • Project planning, coordination, and management
  • Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to investigate a failure, gather necessary information and determine the root cause while under pressure

  • Must be able to lift and carry over 25 pounds
  • Some travel
  • Work outside of normal business hours
  • On-site inspection duties involving occasional overnight travel within the service territory
  • May be temporarily assigned to construction site locations
  • Potential for exposure to hazards typical of an industrial working environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of Florida
  • PMP certification
