Senior Engineer - GIS

Job Summary
Senior Engineer – GIS to strengthen our GIS and geospatial capabilities within Nexans' Installation Engineering team in Norway. You will design cable routes, develop project GIS documentation, build and maintain geodatabases and mosaic datasets, create and maintain web map applications using ArcGIS Enterprise, manage geospatial data from public and internal sources, and provide GIS support, guidance, and training to internal stakeholders. You will collaborate with engineers, offshore specialists, survey personnel, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality geospatial solutions that support project execution, while promoting Quality and HSE. Preferred qualifications include a BSc or MSc in GIS or related fields, 5+ years of GIS experience, strong Esri software experience, geospatial analysis and data management skills, English fluency, and additional knowledge in Python or other scripting languages and GIS tools. The role is based in Norway (Oslo area) and entails supporting marine and land cable installation projects with geospatial expertise and digital mapping capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- BSc or MSc degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, IT, Geospatial Sciences, Earth Sciences, or a related field
- More than 5 years of GIS experience
- Strong experience with Esri software, including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise / ArcGIS Online / ArcGIS Portal, and extensions
- Knowledge of geospatial presentation, geospatial analysis, and data management
- Experience supporting projects with GIS solutions and geospatial information
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment with demanding timelines
- Self-driven mindset with the ability to manage responsibilities independently
- Fluent in English, both oral and written. Norwegian is considered an advantage
- Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages
- Experience with software such as FME, QGIS, Surfer, OpenLayers, Global Mapper, Eiva Navimodel, or AutoCAD
- Experience from offshore surveys and familiarity with geophysical survey data
- Background from energy, offshore, maritime, infrastructure, construction, or related industries
