Job Summary
Senior Engineer role focused on leading physical substation design services for high voltage transmission and distribution assets. You will deliver conceptual and planning-stage designs, coordinate across engineering disciplines, contribute to standardised layouts and CAD cells, develop design risk assessments and constructability reviews, create procedural documents to support efficient workflows, and manage design time and costs to maximize project value. The position emphasizes delivery within ESB’s commitment to decarbonisation, resilience, and client empowerment, with hybrid working and in-person collaboration at least two days per week in Ireland (Dublin or Cork) and travel to substations/sites. A third-level qualification or equivalent experience and at least five years’ substation design experience are required, along with strong project-management capabilities and a proven track record in transmission and distribution projects.
Required Qualifications
- Third level qualification or appropriate experience
- A minimum of five years’ experience in substation design
- Proven track record in delivering transmission and distribution engineering projects
- Strong work ethic with focus on delivery to EMPs safety, time, quality and cost objectives
- Effective commercial and project management capability
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Flexible approach to work to meet KPIs
- Desirable: Full driver's licence and competencies to visit substations and sites on their own
- Desirable: PSDP Competency or CDMC equivalent
- Site Working Competencies
- Location: Sidings, Dublin 2 or Eastgate, Cork; travel within Ireland; hybrid working model
