Job Summary
Senior Engineer, Embedded Software responsible for designing and developing embedded systems, firmware, and platform architectures for cochlear implant systems. Develop firmware for implantable hearing solutions, support Class III medical device technologies with regulatory compliance (FDA/CE), contribute to DSP and custom component design, and lead system-level tradeoff analyses. Collaborate across Marketing, Project Management, and R&D to define requirements; perform feasibility studies; support platform architecture development with R&T and R&D; maintain design history files for regulatory submissions; troubleshoot and verify system performance. Requires a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, 5+ years of firmware experience, expertise in embedded systems and DSP, proficiency in C/C++, Python, and protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART; experience with MATLAB, SPICE, VHDL; familiarity with IEC60601/EN45502 and FDA/CE submission processes; strong communication and mentoring abilities; and the ability to work in a hybrid environment with adequate connectivity.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of firmware design, implementation, and testing
- Strong expertise in embedded systems, DSP, RF, circuits, or custom IC technologies
- Proficiency in C, C++, and Python
- Experience with I2C, SPI, UART
- Experience with MATLAB, SPICE, VHDL or similar tools
- Experience with Class III medical devices and regulatory standards (IEC60601, EN45502)
- Experience in regulated environments with FDA and CE submission requirements
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate across cross-functional teams
- English communication skills
