Senior Engineer, Controls Systems Engineering

Job Summary
Lead design, development, and implementation of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for industrial automation; drive automation projects from concept through commissioning; troubleshoot and optimize control systems on production floors; develop and maintain wiring diagrams, control logic, and user manuals; mentor teammates and represent the Controls Team in cross-functional meetings; ensure safety, performance, and compliance with NFPA 79/70/70E, IEC 61131, and OSHA; apply robotics, motion control, and Industry 4.0 technologies; integrate MES/ERP and leverage data tools (JMP, SQL, PowerBI) to analyze and improve system performance; capable of supporting a 24/7 manufacturing facility and collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and software teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, mechatronics or related field
- 3+ years of experience in industrial environments as controls engineer
- Strong experience with PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens)
- Experience with SCADA systems
- Experience with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
- Experience in operations of a 24/7 Manufacturing facility
- Knowledge of safety standards (NFPA 79/70/70E, IEC 61131, OSHA)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience in robotics, motion control, and Industry 4.0 technologies
- Machine vision experience is a plus
- Familiarity with MES and ERP integration
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong data-driven mindset and documentation skills
- JMP, SQL, PowerBI, Excel, Ignition, Critical Manufacturing proficiency
- SAP background and experience
- Control Systems PE will be a plus
