Job Summary
Senior Engineer – Connections Planning to lead technical assessment of embedded generation and large customer connections to the sub transmission network. Responsibilities include conducting engineering studies, modelling, and data analysis to evaluate the impact of complex connections, developing solutions to maintain system stability and network capability, and collaborating with internal/external stakeholders including regulatory bodies to define performance standards and negotiate connection requirements. Opportunity to work in a hybrid setup based in NSW, Australia, with focus on power system modelling using tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD/EMTDC, and SINCAL; strong emphasis on applying technical expertise to support renewable generation connections and network reliability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent, meeting the requirements for Professional Engineer membership with Engineers Australia
- Strong experience in power system modelling and analysis
- Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD/EMTDC, SINCAL
- Ability to balance technical outcomes with commercial considerations
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability
- Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills
- Effective communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills
- Experience scripting in Python, VBA (highly regarded)
- Ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to deliver viable solutions through technical studies and modelling
