Job Summary
Develop high-impact computer vision algorithms, perception systems, and machine learning models for automated inspection, field services, and mission-critical robotics. Lead system architecture, sensor integration, and software lifecycles while collaborating with internal businesses, government partners, and external technology providers. Execute research initiatives in robotic perception, SLAM, and 3D point cloud processing using synthetic environments and hardware-in-the-loop testing. This senior role requires a PhD or Master's degree with extensive applied experience in C/C++ and Python. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US, willing to work on-site in Niskayuna, NY, and undergo a drug test and background investigation. The position offers a salary range of $113,200 to $188,800 with relocation assistance, medical benefits, and tuition support.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with 5+ years' applied experience
- Master's Degree plus 8+ years' experience
- Demonstrated experience in at least three of the following: Systems architecture, design, and integration
- Development of camera and sensor drivers
- Software engineering and architecture for complex systems
- Robotic perception, SLAM, visual odometry, or 3D point cloud processing (e.g., PCL, Open3D)
- Architecture design, sensor fusion, and driver development for complex camera/lidar arrays
- Use of synthetic environments (e.g., NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo) for model training and validation
- Integrating software into operational robotic systems or industrial hardware
- Advanced computer vision algorithms, deep learning (PyTorch/TensorFlow), and model optimization for edge deployment
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python
- Proven track record of delivering technical projects and integrating software into functional, real-world systems
- Legal authorization to work in the US
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be willing to undergo a drug test and background investigation
- Must be willing to work on-site in Niskayuna, NY
