Job Summary
Senior Energy Market Analyst - Trading role in Energy Exemplar's EMEA Solutions team. Responsibilities include delivering tailored modelling and support for power trading customers, pre-trade analysis, post-trade optimisation, PoC engagements, and thought leadership content. You will lead requirements gathering with trading teams, design and calibrate modelling approaches using PLEXOS, provide technical demonstrations to prospective clients, support onboarding for existing customers, and collaborate with sales and product teams to improve trading applications. Strong scripting (Python or similar) for automation, experience with APIs/CLI tools, and the ability to communicate effectively with trading desks and customers are essential. The role can be based in London or remote within the UK, with international travel across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Expertise in electricity markets, market modelling, and energy trading workflows is required, along with a tertiary degree and 5-7 years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- A tertiary degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Economics, Operations Research or similar degree
- 5-7 years’ experience in energy markets with a strong understanding of energy economics and market fundamentals, energy systems operation and/or engineering
- Knowledge of PLEXOS or other mathematically based optimisation tools
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal presence and skills
- Strong scripting skills (Python or similar) for automation and workflow integration
- Proficient with corporate productivity and web presentation tools
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong listening and presentation skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and manage time effectively
- Self-driven, results-orientated with a positive outlook and a focus on quality
- Thorough knowledge of standard Microsoft programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
- Sense of urgency for goal achievement
