Job Summary
Senior Embedded Software Engineer on the Flight Software team responsible for determining how spacecraft behave and operate in orbit, building reliable firmware for embedded processors in C++ across bare metal, RTOS, and Linux environments. Own all aspects of software development from design through testing and integration; scope projects with requirements capture and initial design trades for open-ended problems. Write high-quality, structured firmware and software to control the spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule, and ensure system quality and performance through software verification and validation (V&V). This role requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical field, 5+ years of spacecraft or safety-critical software experience, and on-site work in El Segundo, CA. Preferred qualifications include safety-critical aerospace software experience and programming in Python or Rust, with a strong grasp of computer architecture, OS concepts, data structures, and networking.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering or equivalent technical experience in safety critical software
- 5+ years of experience in the development of spacecraft or similar safety critical software
- Experience developing and testing real-time embedded hardware / software systems
- Experience with development in C++, along with a strong understanding of language concepts
- Experience with safety-critical software, especially for aerospace applications
- Experience with additional programming languages such as Python or Rust
- Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, data structures, and computer networking
