Job Summary

Conduct high-precision assembly of quantum computer control systems, including PCBA preparation, electro-mechanical box builds, and full rack integration. Perform precision through-hole and SMT assembly, execute circuit reworks to IPC Class 3 standards, and route complex wire harnesses with strict attention to strain relief and bend radius. Read detailed schematics and assembly drawings to ensure accurate build configuration, while capturing redlines and documenting best practices to improve build instructions. Inspect work and initiate Non-Conformance Reports for deviations, maintaining an organized, ESD-safe production environment. This onsite role in College Park, MD, requires 5+ years of hands-on experience in high-tech electronics manufacturing and proficiency in IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-year technical degree (Electronics/Mechatronics)
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in high-tech electronics manufacturing
  • Demonstrated proficiency in IPC J-STD-001 (soldering)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in IPC-A-610 (acceptability of electronic assemblies)
  • Experience with fine-pitch soldering
  • Experience with small gauge wire (28-32 AWG) handling
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for box builds
  • Ability to use hand tools, crimpers, and torque drivers for precision assembly
  • Ability to read and follow complex technical specifications, assembly drawings, and wiring diagrams
  • Experience working in an ESD-controlled environment
  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols
  • Detail-oriented mindset
  • Excellent fine motor skills for handling small components and delicate wiring
  • Proficiency with digital documentation tools (Google Sheets, MS Office) for data collection and reporting
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Must verify 'U.S. Person' status for export controls and government contracts work
  • Must obtain any necessary license and/or confirm the availability of a license exception under U.S. export controls

Desired Qualifications

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification
  • Significant experience in cable and wire harness assembly
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) builds
  • Experience providing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback to engineering teams
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems such as Netsuite MRP, MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), PLM (Arena/Agile), and Jira
  • Experience with cryogenic system wiring
  • Experience with vacuum compatible cabling
  • Previous experience in aerospace, defense, or medical device manufacturing
