Job Summary
Senior Electrical/Mechanical Technician responsible for the assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and sustainment of complex electronic and mechanical systems in an on-site R&D lab. Focuses on high-quality fabrication and system integration within commercial and industrial environments, supporting product development, manufacturing, and testing operations. Operates with minimal supervision, executes technically complex tasks, and supports full lifecycle hardware activities—from fabrication through integration, validation, and delivery. Responsibilities include electrical/electronics work (assembly, integration, testing, soldering, cable/harness fabrication, electrical testing, PCB-level and system-level debugging), interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams, mechanical/hardware fabrication and assembly, troubleshooting and modification of assemblies, preventive maintenance, and collaboration within a small team on fast-paced projects. Travel 5-10%, work hours 0600-1430, on-site in the DC area, with no telework/hybrid arrangements.
Required Qualifications
- Active/Current DoD Secret clearance required
- High school diploma with 10+ years of experience OR an Associate’s degree with 8+ years
- Experience in commercial manufacturing or industrial environments
- Strong electrical/mechanical assembly and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Experience with diagnostic equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes)
- Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions
- Proficient in soldering stations, reflow ovens, and coating equipment
- IPC J-STD certification or equivalent (preferred)
- Familiarity with Space Flight hardware (preferred)
- Forklift or material handling certification (preferred)
