Job Summary

Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and project documents for new construction projects, performing complete takeoffs for power distribution, lighting, low voltage, and specialty systems. Develop accurate labor and material estimates using supplier quotes, subcontractor bids, and internal cost databases to prepare detailed project budgets, bid summaries, and proposals. Maintain relationships with electrical suppliers, subcontractors, and general contractors while attending pre-bid meetings and coordinating with project managers to validate estimate assumptions. Assist leadership with bid strategy, develop estimating systems and templates, and identify scope gaps or value engineering opportunities. Contribute ideas to improve estimating efficiency and workflows within a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of direct electrical estimating experience, primarily in new construction projects
  • Journeyman Electrician license
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical plans, drawings, and specifications
  • Deep knowledge of electrical materials
  • Deep knowledge of labor units and productivity
  • Deep knowledge of electrical systems and installation methods
  • Proven experience estimating commercial projects
  • Strong network within electrical contractors, suppliers, and general contractors
  • Proficiency with estimating tools such as Accubid
  • Proficiency with estimating tools such as ConEst
  • Proficiency with estimating tools such as Bluebeam
  • Proficiency with estimating tools such as PlanSwift
  • Proficiency with Excel or similar software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience estimating large-scale commercial construction projects
  • Familiarity with design-build projects
  • Experience working in a growing or startup construction company
  • Ability to help develop estimating standards, pricing databases, and internal workflows
  • Occasional travel across the United States
