Job Summary
Develop verification plans, electrical test methods, and custom test hardware to validate next-generation implantable and wearable neurotechnology systems. Execute functional, performance, environmental, and safety testing using laboratory instrumentation while analyzing data to identify failure modes and recommend design improvements. Design and debug prototype test fixtures, interface boards, and automated test systems to ensure products meet medical device standards and are ready for clinical use. Collaborate with Hardware, Firmware, and Regulatory teams to support design validation activities and regulatory submissions throughout the product lifecycle. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to test strategy for stroke-related motor impairment and cognitive decline solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5–8 years of relevant experience developing electronic systems
- Strong understanding of analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronics
- Hands-on experience debugging electronic hardware in a laboratory environment
- Experience developing verification protocols, reports, and electrical test methods
- Experience designing custom test fixtures, interface boards, or test PCBAs
- Proficiency using Altium Designer (or equivalent professional PCB design software)
- Experience using laboratory instrumentation including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, digital multimeters, programmable power supplies, and electronic loads
- Experience developing products under FDA Design Controls and ISO 13485, or experience working within other regulated engineering environments
- Experience using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools for test automation or data analysis
- Ability to work in laboratory environments, including prototype assembly, electrical debugging, and hands-on verification testing
- Ability to occasionally lift laboratory equipment, test fixtures, and hardware prototypes
Desired Qualifications
- Experience developing Class II or Class III medical devices
- Familiarity with standards applicable to medical device verification, including ISO 14708, IEC 60601, and ISO 10993
- Experience designing automated electrical test systems
- Experience with National Instruments hardware, LabVIEW, TestStand, or similar automated test platforms
- Experience with embedded systems and communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, USB, CAN, or BLE
- Experience supporting regulatory submissions
- Understanding of medical device risk management and design controls
- Prior experience mentoring junior engineers or leading test strategy for a subsystem
