Job Summary
Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of utility-scale solar PV systems (100MW+), developing detailed electrical designs including SLDs, layouts, and system configurations. Perform system modelling, load calculations, cable sizing, and performance optimisation while managing projects from feasibility through commissioning. Provide technical leadership to junior engineers, ensure compliance with Australian standards and grid requirements, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for integrated outcomes. Support procurement, equipment specification, and vendor evaluation, then provide technical support during construction, testing, and commissioning phases to identify design improvements and value engineering opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Proven experience in utility-scale solar design (100MW+ projects essential)
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems, grid integration, and electrical design principles
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects across the full lifecycle (design to commissioning)
- Proficiency in design and modelling tools (e.g. PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of Australian standards and renewable energy frameworks
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers within a project environment
- Ability to manage complex technical challenges and multiple project priorities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
