Job Summary
Design electrical power distribution and control systems for new construction and brownfield mining, metals, and heavy industrial projects, influencing outcomes from concept through completion. Conduct power system studies including load flow, short-circuit, and arc-flash analysis using tools like ETAP or EasyPower. Prepare specifications for switchgear, MCCs, and transformers while ensuring regulatory compliance and safety in hazardous environments. Oversee engineering calculations and verify design accuracy through field reviews and site evaluations. Coordinate cross-disciplinary design activities and mentor junior staff to support project execution across Canada's mining and industrial sectors.
Required Qualifications
- At least 12+ years of electrical engineering design experience supporting heavy industrial facilities
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
- Strong understanding of CSA, ANSI, IEEE, building codes, and other relevant standards
- Proficiency in power system modelling tools
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to attend industrial sites in accordance with safety requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Additional jurisdictions considered an asset
- Familiarity with instrumentation, automation, and control systems
- Experience working in industrial environments such as mines, mills, refineries, ports, or material‐handling facilities
