Job Summary
Senior Electrical Engineer responsible for designing critical power systems for new and expanding data centers. Lead multi-disciplinary electrical design efforts, develop conceptual designs from client meetings, respond to RFPs, review shop drawings and RFIs, and produce construction documents using AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP. Collaborate with management and trades, oversee design teams through full project lifecycle, and provide engineering leadership for complex data center projects (enterprise, colocation, hyperscale). Key tasks include developing electrical distribution topologies, specifying equipment (generators, UPS, PDUs, switchgear, batteries), coordinating with project management, ensuring compliance with NEC/Life Safety/Energy codes, and delivering completed drawings, sequences of operations, and project documentation. Strong client-facing communication, ability to manage multiple tasks, and a track record of delivering on schedule and budget; experience with field observations, commissioning support, and preparation of progress reports.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
- 8-15 years experience
- Experience with AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP
- Experience with design of electrical systems for data centers / mission-critical facilities
- Knowledge of NEC, Life Safety and Energy Conservation Codes
- Experience with electrical equipment design including Generators, UPS, PDUs, switchgear
- Proficiency with AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP; BIM a plus
- Ability to lead design teams and coordinate with project management and clients
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proven experience in developing construction documents and sequences of operations
- Experience with SKM Powertools, ETAP desirable
- Experience working on data center / mission-critical facilities projects
- Experience with field observations, commissioning support
- Experience with creating and reviewing project specifications and RFIs
- Licensed PE / EIT a Plus
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Proficiency in MS Office and engineering calculation tools
- Experience with field/office integration during project delivery
- Mentoring interns or junior engineers (may direct/coordinate interns)
