Job Summary
Oversee electrical power system design activities for fossil-fired generating plants, developing and reviewing scope documents, schedules, budgets, single-line diagrams, and layout designs while ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and QA requirements. Provide technical leadership to engineers and drafters, review design details and calculations, and support system checkout and startup. Coordinate engineering projects to meet cost and timeline objectives, making independent decisions with minimal supervision. Communicate effectively with plant operations, maintenance, vendors, and other disciplines to support large-scale design efforts at Southern Company Services facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of related experience
- Strong knowledge of engineering design principles, preferably in: Fossil-fired power plant electrical systems
- Experience providing technical direction in preparation of: Design details, Drawings, Calculations
- Experience coordinating projects to meet cost and schedule targets
- Proficiency with applicable codes, QA standards, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to work independently on large projects with limited supervision
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience using AutoCAD and CAD Overlay
- Prior experience in fossil-fired generation environments
- Demonstrated initiative and strong organizational skills
