Job Summary

Principal Electrical Engineer required to lead the electrical design team for a London HS2 gateway station project. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring engineers, delivering the full lifecycle of electrical design from feasibility to As-Built, coordinating with clients and project stakeholders, producing design markups, calculations (lighting, LV, transformers, small power, schematics), ensuring compliance with standards (Network Rail, HS2, TfL), managing design interfaces in a BIM-enabled environment, and coordinating contractor submissions. Essential: degree in electrical engineering, professional registration, railway-industry experience, familiarity with NR-L2-RSE-02009, strong leadership and communication skills, and ability to deliver to programme and budget. Desirable: BIM experience, multidisciplinary coordination, knowledge of NEC contracts, CDM/CSM compliance, and right to work in the UK. The role emphasizes quality, governance, and building engineering capability within a collaborative, client-facing setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Member of an engineering institute and professionally registered with the Engineering Council
  • Sufficient experience in the railway industry
  • Experience in NR-L2-RSE-02009 and rail station electrical services design and coordination
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring experience
  • Ability to train and upskill team members
  • Proficient at leading meetings and presenting to clients, stakeholders, colleagues, subcontractors, and suppliers
