Job Summary
Design electrical control systems for high-performance metal forming machinery, taking ownership of projects from initial concept through implementation, testing, and handover into production. Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure smooth integration of new machinery and support ongoing development of team capability across electrical design, software, testing, and commissioning. Perform hands-on fault-finding and problem-solving while producing schematics, bills of materials, and bespoke control solutions using AutoCAD or Eplan. Manage multiple priorities to deliver innovative engineering solutions that meet customer requirements and drive continuous improvement. This role is predominantly based in Shipley with occasional travel to Wortley and global requirements.
Required Qualifications
- occasional travel to Wortley as required
- The ability to travel globally is also required on occasion
- significant experience designing and commissioning control systems for high-speed production machinery
- Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, particularly across Rockwell and Siemens platforms
- PLC and HMI programming
- proficiency in electrical design tools such as AutoCAD or Eplan
- experience in producing schematics, bills of materials and bespoke control solutions
- A solid understanding of safety systems, servo drives and automation principles
- strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
- experience working with customer specifications
- confidence to provide technical support
- Good communication skills

- qualified to a minimum of a HND in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
