Job Summary
Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for medium-to-large EPC/EPCM mining projects. Plan, develop and review electrical design work for in-house and external providers, lead the design, development, modification and evaluation of electrical components and processes, and ensure compliance with project requirements across HV power, utilities, and mining process plant electrical design. Role includes oversight of a team, coordination with client representatives for approvals, development of conceptual designs for electrical projects, and support for estimates, staffing and schedules. Requires a bachelor's degree and 8-10 years (or 12-14 years) of relevant experience, plus current RPEQ registration. The position is part-time telework with at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project in Brisbane, Australia; travel and onsite collaboration as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
- Current RPEQ registration
- Knowledge of FEED, proposal & detailed engineering preferably in an EPC/EPCM mining and metals industrial plants, power projects, utilities, oil and gas plants
- Experience in design, procurement, construction, commissioning or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities or process plants (desirable)
- Knowledge of 2-D and 3-D CAD tools and related engineering practices
- Strong ability to coordinate across disciplines and with clients for approvals
- Experience in electrical design for surface infrastructure including HV power, air, water, fuel and reagent utilities
- Understanding of ROM to tailings requirements in mining projects
- Ability to lead, supervise and review work of engineers and designers
