Senior Electrical Cost Estimator - Data Center Construction

Job Summary
Lead detailed electrical cost estimates for hyperscale data center projects, covering power distribution, backup generation, and critical systems. Perform comprehensive quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and BIM models, then validate pricing models and analyze contractor bids to identify scope gaps and cost risks. Establish historical benchmarks, manage long-lead equipment risks, and support value engineering efforts to optimize system layouts while maintaining redundancy. Partner with engineering, procurement, and construction leaders to inform design decisions based on cost, schedule, and constructability, ensuring estimates align with codes and sustainability objectives. Prepare defensible deliverables for internal reviews and external stakeholders, provide estimating handovers to construction teams, and mentor junior estimators.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- 7+ years of experience in electrical estimating
- Advanced technical knowledge of power distribution systems, backup generation, UPS systems, electrical codes, and labor productivity
- Proficiency in estimating and takeoff tools such as Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, Bluebeam, or similar platforms, with strong familiarity interpreting BIM-based information
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate cost drivers, assumptions, and risks
- Proven ability to operate independently while providing leadership within a collaborative, multidisciplinary project environment
- Candidates must be physically based in the United States
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Remote work is permitted only from within the United States
