Job Summary
Perform cardiac ultrasound testing including M-mode, two-dimensional, pulsed, continuous wave, color flow Doppler, transesophageal echocardiography, and stress echocardiograms. Prepare equipment and supplies, sterilize devices after isolation patients and TEE studies, and maintain equipment for proper function and safety. Identify patients by checking ID bracelets or verbal acknowledgement, explain procedures clearly, and provide privacy. Document echocardiograms, enter pertinent data, and inform physicians of changes in patient condition or vital signs. Compare present studies to previous ones to monitor status, alert medical staff of abnormalities requiring immediate attention, and assist the cardiologist during cardiac emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or the equivalent
- certificate of completion from a licensed EKG school
- certificate of completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- certificate of completion from a licensed Patient Care Technician program
- comparable experience as an EKG Technician, Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician in an acute care or ambulatory facility
- Minimum three years of experience as an EKG Technician in an acute care or ambulatory care facility
- Good communication skills
- Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
