Senior Ecologist

Job Summary
Senior Ecologist to lead and support ecological projects across the Midlands, Wales and wider UK. Responsibilities include managing projects (resource planning, financial oversight, client communication), producing and overseeing ecological appraisals, EIAs, HRAs, licence applications and EPS licences, mentoring junior ecologists, conducting ecological surveys, assisting with fee proposals, and contributing to business development. Collaboration with Ecology, Environmental & Earth Sciences, Planning, ESIA, Landscape, Arboriculture and Engineering teams with cross-regional exposure. Based in Shrewsbury with flexible hybrid working; extensive UK field and reporting duties across renewables, infrastructure and residential development.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in ecology or related discipline
- Qualifying Member (or above) of CIEEM
- Experience managing ecological projects to completion
- Experience preparing PEAs, EcIAs, ES chapters, HRAs and licence applications
- Strong technical reporting and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desired Qualifications
- Extensive experience delivering UK ecological projects including renewables and infrastructure
- Degree in ecology or a related discipline
- Qualifying Member (or above) of CIEEM
- Strong technical reporting, communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience preparing PEAs, EcIAs, ES chapters, HRAs and licence applications
- At least one protected species licence (bat licence advantageous)
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle for site work
