Job Summary
Senior Drafter – Roads & Highways role based in Perth, WA, delivering high-quality design documentation across large-scale transport infrastructure projects. Acts as a technical specialist within the drafting function, providing guidance, oversight, and mentorship to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency across project delivery. Works within a multidisciplinary team, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, driving drafting standards, and supporting the growth of the broader team. Requires a strong track record in Civil Drafting for roads/highways, advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, knowledge of local standards (MRWA welcomed), experience with common data environments (ProjectWise), and the ability to deliver complete drafting packages to timelines. Strong leadership, coordination, and client/stakeholder management skills are essential. Diploma/Advanced Diploma or equivalent tertiary qualification in Civil Drafting or related discipline is required.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years’ professional drafting experience
- Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or equivalent tertiary qualification in Civil Drafting or a related discipline
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (and/or MicroStation)
- working knowledge of AutoCAD and other relevant drafting/model authoring tools
- Strong understanding of local standards and specifications (e.g. MRWA experience highly regarded)
- Experience with Common Data Environments (ProjectWise or similar)
- Ability to independently deliver drafting packages across medium to large-scale projects
- Ability to review, check, and approve drawings
- Mentorship/guidance to junior drafters
- Strong coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams
- Commercial awareness of project scope, programme, and delivery drivers
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
