Job Summary
Lead the development of 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models based on input from engineers and designers to support plant retrofit and design projects. Conduct plant-site walkdowns to gather field data and dimensions necessary for accurate design modeling. Revise and update existing 2D CAD drawings to support retrofit and upgrade projects while ensuring all work complies with project standards, design specifications, and safety regulations. Collaborate with engineers, design staff, and plant personnel to deliver high-quality, constructible design deliverables. Lead and coordinate drafting efforts for small and mid-sized projects, ensuring schedule and quality expectations are met. This 3-year contract with Southern Company in Forest Park requires 10+ years of experience in industrial or power generation environments, with SCS Line Design and FPK office experience strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional drafting experience in industrial or power generation environments
- Associate's degree in Drafting and Design
- Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar platforms)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- In-depth understanding of engineering design principles and drafting standards
- Ability to lead drafting tasks for small to medium-sized projects with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Committed to quality, safety, and design excellence
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with engineering staff, plant personnel, and external vendors
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- Adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration
- Familiarity with plant retrofit project requirements and documentation standards
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Drafting and Design preferred
- Prior experience with SCS Line Design processes and procedures
- Experience working in or supporting the FPK (Forest Park) office
