Job Summary
Lead the North American energy origination team in solar, storage, and gas solutions, owning market coverage strategy and managing relationships with IOUs, utilities, hyperscalers, data centers and C&I customers. Act as a senior face of Cypress Creek Energy at industry conferences and stakeholder groups, guiding deal origination and execution for PPAs, VPPAs, ESAs, and build-transfer structures, while closely collaborating with BD, Strategy and Commercial Structuring. Maintain pipeline visibility, oversee the Deal Desk process, and apply energy trading and hedging experience to optimize asset value and structure near-term transactions. This is a player-coach role with active origination alongside team leadership, requiring deep knowledge of US power markets, interconnection cycles, and regulatory dynamics.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years in energy markets — power origination, utility commercial, or energy trading and structuring
- Established senior relationships across IOUs, Co-ops, Hyperscalers and C&I energy buyers across multiple RTOs
- Proven experience building and managing origination teams: strategy, people development, pipeline accountability and performance management
- Player-coach: actively originating at senior level while leading the team’s day-to-day commercial execution
- Deep knowledge of US power markets: RTO structure, LMP dynamics, capacity markets, large load tariffs, IRP and procurement cycles across MISO, SPP, SERC, WECC and PJM
- Hands-on experience with short-term power trading, bilateral hedging and near-term market transactions applied to both asset optimization and customer origination
- Demonstrated track record originating and executing utility offtake agreements PPAs, VPPAs, ESAs, build-transfer across multiple customer types and market structures
- Working knowledge of natural gas markets and physical infrastructure sufficient for commercial conversations on gas generation and hybrid configurations
