Job Summary
Develop and execute medicinal chemistry strategies to discover and advance small molecule therapeutics from hit identification to clinical candidates. Lead drug discovery programs by managing internal and external chemistry teams, including CROs, while devising approaches for fast project progression. Assume a strategic leadership role engaging internal stakeholders and external experts to enable expeditious advancement from discovery to clinical candidate. Provide support to intellectual property strategy and communicate results through scientific publications and progress updates to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- PhD degree in synthetic or medicinal chemistry
- 15+ years of experience in drug discovery
- Deep expertise in small molecule medicinal chemistry
- structure-based and/or pharmacophore-based drug design
- synthetic organic chemistry
- ADME/DMPK optimization
- Proven track record of advancing small molecule medicinal chemistry programs from hit ID to clinical candidate
- Demonstrated experiences with management of lab-based researchers, research teams, CROs
- ability to inspire all the above to give their best
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional groups in a matrix team environment
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
- ability to communicate scientific information clearly and effectively
