Job Summary
Senior Director, Strategic Accounts at Ciena responsible for defining and executing go-to-market strategies to accelerate bookings, revenue, and market share across strategic accounts in telecommunications and related technology. Leads a global sales team, engages executive stakeholders, and personally spearheads high-impact pursuits to drive deal closure and customer outcomes. Focus on expanding services revenue through profitable long-term maintenance and support agreements, cross-functional collaboration to align customer requirements with the product roadmap, and delivering quarterly and annual financial commitments. Requires 15+ years in senior sales leadership, proven success in managing large strategic/global accounts, and strong collaboration and negotiation skills. Bachelor's degree required; advanced business degree preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced business degree strongly preferred
- 15+ years of progressive experience in senior sales leadership roles within telecommunications, networking, or related technology
- Proven success owning and growing strategic or global accounts with significant revenue and margin targets
- Experience leading geographically distributed sales teams
- Experience engaging with executive-level customer stakeholders
- Strong commercial acumen with track record of revenue growth and margin improvement
- Bachelor’s degree; advanced business degree or equivalent strongly preferred
- Direct experience managing strategic accounts with complex, multi-year investment cycles
