Job Summary
Senior Director, Product & Portfolio Management (PPMG) in Surgery R&D leads cross-functional portfolio governance, drives prioritization and resource allocation, develops portfolio tools and dashboards, guides risk mitigation, and chairs derisking forums. S/he coaches the PPMG team, partners with Platform Presidents and functional leaders across Finance, Supply Chain, Business Development, and other stakeholders, and reports to Global Head R&D, Surgery. The role focuses on delivering timely, efficient execution of prioritized R&D programs, aligning portfolio strategy with organizational goals, and ensuring measurable progress through defined KPIs and governance processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, life sciences, business, or a related field
- 12+ years of relevant experience in R&D leadership, portfolio/program management, or strategic planning in a regulated environment
- Demonstrated experience in medical device or pharmaceutical industries (preferred) or other regulated healthcare environments
- Strong business and technical acumen, with experience translating strategy into executable plans and measurable outcomes
- Track record of leading operational change, implementing portfolio governance, and driving cross-functional program delivery
- Experience developing and presenting portfolio analyses and recommendations to senior leadership
- Demonstrated people leadership: coaching, talent development, and building high-performing teams
- Travel: Up to 20% domestic and international
