Job Summary
Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within Connected Commerce Technology leads multiple technology areas, manages activities of several departments, and drives cross-functional collaboration to align with firmwide technology objectives. Responsible for scalable, resilient, cloud-based systems; implements agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps to accelerate delivery. Interfaces with senior leaders and executives to drive consensus across objectives while overseeing large, multi-workstream initiatives with distributed global teams. Requires a strong hands-on foundation in modern software engineering (Java/Spring/JMS/Webservices with JSON and Swagger), expertise in SQL/NoSQL (Oracle, Cassandra, Cockroach, Hadoop, Snowflake), and cloud deployments (AWS/Azure). Emphasizes enterprise fraud detection and analytics capabilities, and champions a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
- 10+ years of applied software engineering experience
- 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within domain of expertise
- Deep expertise in core banking systems, payment processing, regulatory requirements, and financial services technology best practices
- Strong hands-on engineering foundation in Java, Spring, JMS, Webservices integration patterns leveraging JSON, Swagger
- Expertise in SQL and NoSQL technologies (e.g., Oracle, Cassandra, Cockroach, Hadoop, Snowflake) and big data platforms
- Proficient with modern frameworks, microservices architecture, cloud-native technologies, and DevOps practices; Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, SDLC
- Experience with cloud-based deployments including AWS and Azure
- Demonstrated success implementing enterprise-ready systems and continuous improvement methodologies
- Proven track record leading complex, multi-workstream initiatives with distributed global teams
- Exceptional stakeholder management across time zones and cultures; ability to influence senior executives and collaborate globally
- Combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution; thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments
