Job Summary
Senior Director of Software Engineering for Trade Surveillance leads multiple technical domains within JPMorgan Chase's Corporate Technology group to shape cloud infrastructure and agentic AI strategy. Responsibilities include guiding cross-functional teams, designing scalable and secure cloud architectures, managing budgets and vendor relationships, driving adoption of AI technologies to improve business processes and operations, and delivering executive-level reports. The role emphasizes cloud and AI expertise (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud, AI workloads, LLMs, RAG, agents, model serving, monitoring), governance and regulatory compliance, strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and talent development to sustain high-performing teams. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in technology leadership, 10+ years in technical leadership with a focus on cloud and AI, and demonstrated success in implementing modern cloud and AI solutions in regulated environments.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
- 10+ years of applied experience
- 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise and more broadly across the organization
- 10+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles, with a focus on cloud and AI
- Demonstrated expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and agentic AI frameworks
- Practical experience deploying and operating AI workloads (TLM Automation, LLMs, agents, RAG, model serving, evaluation, monitoring)
- Background in agent orchestration frameworks, policy/guardrail design, and AI safety practices
- Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
- Knowledge of multi-cloud patterns, cost optimization, and performance engineering for AI systems
- Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
